Great Unit Location In The Building:
This unit is up on the 19th floor away from ground noise and in the “14 stack” one of the most desirable locations in the Ilikai. It gets morning sun and afternoon shade, so the temperature stays moderate and you can enjoy the open windows and lanai all day. (Unlike the other side of the building, which gets the hot afternoon sun.)
Unit 1914 is highlighted in blue. |

Sightseeing:
You can take a helicopter ride, a catamaran sailboat ride along Waikiki, a sunset dinner cruise or even a submarine ride right from the Hilton pier.
Many beautiful and interesting diversions are nearby or within a short drive: Waikiki Aquarium, Sea Life Park, Diamond Head Park and the sights of Honolulu, the Pearl Harbor Memorial, Hanauma Bay State Park, the north shore and the Polynesian Cultural Center. We recommend the guidebook “Oahu Revealed” for more information.
The concierge in the hotel lobby (to the right of the hotel front desk) would be happy to recommend tours and sightseeing locations. Or call them at 808-944-3417. They are part of Expedia and can even arrange airline flights.

The Ilikai Condominium Hotel
The Ilikai is a landmark condominium hotel on Waikiki beach. In fact, it marks the beginning of Waikiki. The Ilikai was made famous by the opening sequence of the long-running TV series “Hawaii Five-0.” (There is a dramatic helicopter shot zooming toward the Ilikai and focusing on the star of the show, Jack Lord, standing on the lanai of the Ilikai penthouse.) One of the main characters of the series was even named for the visionary who built the Ilikai: Chinn Ho.

An Extraordinary Location: “Where Waikiki Begins”
The Ilikai serves as a convenient base for vacationing singles, friends, couples, families and business people. You can't beat the location. It is just steps to the Duke Kahanamoku lagoon and the white sands of Waikiki beach; it is one of the only ocean front properties on the ocean side of the main road in Waikiki. The Ilikai is located between the 5 star Hilton Hawaiian Village and the wonderful Ala Moana Beach Park.
The Hilton Hawaiian Village has the same beach and ocean front, but similar units, most without kitchens, rent for $400 to $800 per night. Our unit is much more reasonably priced and the use of the kitchen can save you additional expense if you decide to eat some meals on your ocean view lanai instead of in a restaurant. We love eating fresh tropical fruits on the lanai in the warm morning sun. Here is a link to Google maps:

Direct Ocean Views:
Gaze out at the Duke Kahanamoku lagoon, the stunning blue ocean and watch the surfers riding the waves at the premier Ala Moana surfing area, while relaxing in your spacious condo or sitting on your shaded lanai (balcony). There is a direct ocean view from the moment you first open the front door. (Not just when craning your neck sideways on the lanai like some other so-called ocean view units!)

Restaurants
Many wonderful restaurants and shops are right in the hotel area. There are national chains, such as Starbucks, Outback Steak House, the Chart House and Red Lobster and many unique local restaurants offering every type of dining opportunity, including some right on the beach nearby. The Ilikai has its own award winning restaurant, Sarentos, on the 25th floor with breath taking panoramic views.
Shopping and Entertainment
It is just a few minutes walk or drive to all of the other fabulous shopping and entertainment areas of Waikiki, such as Lewers Street with Coach and other high-end shops, jewelry shops and art galleries. The nearby International Market Place has unique gifts from all over the Pacific rim. Other nearby destinations include Ala Moana Beach Park, the huge Ala Moana shopping center, the Hawaii Convention Center and other attractions and entertainment. |
|
A Bountiful Choice of Activities:
There is a wonder land of outdoor activities right outside your door. Of course you can just relax or indulge in beach walking, wading and swimming in the beautiful, recently renovated lagoon (with fresh sea water filtered several times per day) and the ocean. Snorkeling, surfing, kayaking, paddle boats, biking, hiking and more are all right close by. Or try the nearby Ala Wai golf course, experience an outdoor concert at the Waikiki shell, visit the aquarium or take in one of the many other attractions. Waikiki is truly the playground of the Pacific. |

Here are some of the popular activities in the greater Waikiki and Honolulu areas: |
|
The Ilikai has been described by the guidebook “Oahu Revealed” as “A Real Gem,” because of its Hawaiian ambiance and value for its location. The open-air lobby and relaxing courtyard of the Ilikai lead to a pathway to the beach. The original monkeypod tree, planted by Chinn Ho and Duke Kahanamoku, the most famous Hawaiian surfer, world champion swimmer and Hawaiian ambassador to the world, , stills stands in the beautiful garden courtyard of the Ilikai..
Amenities include a coin-operated laundry room on the same floor as the unit, free use of a large fitness room with ocean view (!), pool and tennis court. There is a business center (fees apply) and a deli, beauty shop, car rental and gift shops.
All public areas and rooms, including lanais (balconies) are nonsmoking. |

Me kissing Duke Kahanamoku on the cheek. (Just kidding!) I did have the honor of eating lunch with “The Duke” when he was at the age shown in the photo. He was truly a living legend. |
